Originally from Boston, USA, Hannah Payette Peterson has lived in Chile and Spain over the past several years and is now based in Berlin, Germany. She is a graduate of Amherst College with majors in biology and Spanish; she now works as a neuroscientist in a research lab and creates paintings in her studio in Berlin. Her artwork is very much inspired by her love of science (especially biology and astronomy) and science fiction. Her pop-surrealist style, developed with influence from artists such as Rene Magritte and magical realist literature, allows her to mix several ideas and themes into one painting to create dreamlike worlds.
